Therapies

Creativity and Substance Use

Blocks in creativity can make us stuck and stagnant as a result of falling into addictive patterns. Addictive energy can feel intense and fiery, just like the energy of creativity. The work is to channel that addictive energy into your passion, even if you aren’t quite sure what that is. We will find it together. As Garbor Mate puts it, “addiction is the opposite of connection,” and this includes connection with ourselves.

Adolescents and young adults

Alice has worked with the age group of 13-27 for over ten years. This time of transformation in our lives presents specific challenges of identity development, finding meaningful connections, and figuring out purpose in this world. It is hard to find someone who sees you and understands. Inspiration strikes in these times of transitions, and Alice deeply enjoys being a guide and support for this age group.

Expressive Arts

Alice uses art and music-based therapy activities to connect with her clients. Art and music are forms of deep creative expression, and allow for communication that extends past what we can express verbally.  Alice also uses drama-therapy to help enact emotions, patterns and other aspects of life.

Parts Work

Have you ever said, “one part of me feels this way and another part feels this way?” We have many different parts of ourselves that make up the whole of who we are, and how we present ourselves to the world. Alice will work with you to identify and work with various “parts” of yourself to help understand internal struggles and congruencies we present ourselves

Somatic Trauma Processing

Many times, talking about trauma doesn’t give us relief from the trauma, and we need something more. Alice works with a number of body-based therapeutic techniques to process trauma. She is inspired by Peter Levine’s work and knowledge about the holding of trauma in the body. Alice is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This is a type of therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of trauma or disturbing life experiences.
